David Nathaniel Crout

Lead Pastor

David Nathaniel Crout is a pastor and teacher who is committed to clearly communicating the Word of God. Motivated in the study of theology and psychology, he believes that through understanding the nature of God as revealed in Jesus Christ through the Bible, we can appreciate what He designed us to be and do on earth under His authority. Pastor David teaches that through redemptive reconciliation in Jesus Christ, all believers are made ambassadors of the heavenly kingdom and live to display the glory and righteous character of our King in all things.

From music to leadership development to ministry for both youth and men, Pastor David was involved in various aspects of Christian discipleship and service even before being ordained in 2014 under the pastorate of his father, Rev. Dr. J. N. Crout. After his ordination, he became affectionately known as “Reverend David.”

During the 2015 annual church meeting, Pastor J. N. Crout and New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church, under the prompting of the Holy Spirit, proposed that Rev. David succeed his father as Pastor at the appropriate time. Rev. David accepted and in November 2021 was installed as the second pastor of New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church.

Pastor David has a deep passion for both learning and teaching. In 2012, he graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor’s degree, double majoring in psychology and music. In May 2023, he completed a Master of Liberal Arts degree through the Division of Continuing Education at Harvard University, with an emphasis in psychology. In May 2026, he is expected to graduate from Moody Theological Seminary with a Master of Theological Studies, concentrating in Old Testament. His studies reflect a continued commitment to rightly handling the Word of God and growing in wisdom for both teaching and shepherding.

He continues to pursue further education as he seeks to faithfully write, teach, and counsel alongside his calling to pastoral ministry.

Pastor David is married to his sweetheart, Rachel, who is both his wife and ministry partner. They live in Milan, Michigan with their lovable goldendoodle, Mia.
